Meet Elsye W. aka Wandering Chardonnay

Hello, my name is Elsye, people call me Chardonnay. Chardonnay is a name I picked up back when I was a road biking fool in Iowa, good times! In 2015, I completed a thru hike of the Pacific Crest Trail. It was fun, tough and I did a bunch of things I never thought I would ever do. I’ve also completed 1200 miles of the Appalachian Trail! Now I am preparing for the Continental Divide Trail in 2017.  Basically I’m a Midwest girl living on the West Coast. I grew up in Michigan, lived in Iowa for a long time, and a couple of years in the Colorado Mountains. About 5 years ago I got a wild hair and moved to California! I’m a whole lot of crazy; it’s part of what makes me awesomely interesting. Just carving my unique path through the vines!

Let’s here more from this adventure inciting thru hiker:

How could you describe yourself in 5 words?   Adventurous, Caring, Quirky, Strong, Genuine

What do you love to do? Spend time with family and friends. I don’t get to as often as I would like because, ya know, life happens. Most of my family lives in Michigan and I have friends scattered all around the world. Luckily I enjoy travelling!

What can you do today that you could not do a year ago? Speak a little Swedish.

Do you like your job? Yes, I’m a Girl Friday (self titled). I mostly do temp work, but I love the variety. I get to work with a lot of different people in varying industries. Education, Medical, Automotive, Retail, Hospitality…..You name it, I’ve probably done it.

What would you regret not doing? Going after my dreams and trying new things! I love to try things, ALL The Things, risky, weird, different things. Things I shouldn’t try but do. Sometimes it’s fun, sometimes not. Sometimes it works, sometimes not so much. I owe it to myself to at least try.

When was the last time you traveled somewhere new? This past summer I hiked the Appalachian Trail. While I have driven thru some of those states before, travelling them on foot was a whole other adventure. Many times it was like walking through history. Meeting so many different people from around the world and in small town America can really change your perspective.

Have you done anything lately worth remembering? Probably, but I’m getting old and the mind is the first to go…or the eyes…oh, I can’t remember!

(Chardonnay, that was the reason I started blogging.  Just recently I had compiled a “pictures of me in action” file for someone and it turned out to be a dozen photos long with me doing different things in different places.  What a way to jog the memory, huh?  Oh, and I also blog to get others outside!  That’s my passion.)

What does success mean to you? Success to me means accomplishing my goals.

What are you doing to pursue your dreams right now? Training and prep to take on the Continental Divide Trail.

What are you most scared of? Running out of time.

What are you most proud of? Following my own path, even though it is unconventional.

(I love it!)

Where would you like to live? Sweden. Need to learn more Swedish!

If you left your current life in order to pursue your dreams, what would you lose? Not a thing. My current life is about pursuing my dreams, winning!

What bad habits do you want to break? Procrastinating, but I’ll deal with that later.

(Bahahahahaha! How do you say, “Great sense of humor” in Swedish?)

If you were someone’s life coach, what would you tell them? Remember that all advice can only be a product of the man/woman who gives it. Choose your own path.
