Five Adventure Horror Movies

I am a sucker for horror movies.  I like to have them running in the background when I’m cleaning house.  I like to grab a pint of Ben & Jerry’s and then demolish it like the guy who gets his head demolished by Jason.  I like to go to sleep in a strange hotel room with Re-Animator playing in the dark.  Yes, I am weird.  So, here’s a list of movies with that special recreational junkie in mind:

Snowboarding/Skiing:  Frozen (2010)

No, not the Disney movie with Princess Elsa.  Although, have you ever watched a trailer of that with a horror soundtrack?  Totally makes PE look like a major psycho!  Frozen is a movie about three friends (2 snowboarders/1 skier) who get stranded on a chairlift and are forced to make life-or-death choices which prove more perilous than staying put and freezing to death.  I had people over to watch this and we laughed the whole time.

Mountain Biking:  Blood Trails (2006)

Girl meets boy, boy does the deed with girl, but girl has boyfriend.  Girl leaves city with boyfriend, psycho follows them on a MTB trip.  Psycho becomes cat, girl becomes mouse and the games begin!

Camping:  Tucker & Dale VS. Evil (2010)

Two hillbillies vs. a group of millennials!  This is the classic Deliverance story line, but the hillbillies aren’t the bad guys.  I absolutely LOVE this movie and have seen it multiple times.  I’ve got my fingers crossed a sequel comes out.  “We’ve got yer friend!!!”

Mountaineering:  High Lane (2009)

Set in Croatia, some teens are there to do some mountaineering.  They discover the starting point closed due to a rock avalanche.  Do they turn around and look for another spot?  No.  Why not?  The leader of the team has a crush on one of the girls and wants to prove his machismo in order to get close to her.  Bad idea to follow the wrong head in this case.  As their journey progresses, they realize that the trail is more dangerous than they had first thought and maybe getting laid wasn’t the best catalyst as they find themselves up shit creek.

Backpacking/Hiking:     Turistas  (2006)

If you’re going to have your kidney stolen, why not have it stolen while in paradise?

Now go and grab some friends and do some binge watching.  I would love to hear what your fave adventure horror movies are!  Drop me a line!

Must mentionables:

Human Centipede (the original was the best)

Bad Milo

Much love and Aloha,

your ain’t skerred clueless wanderer

  1. I’m also obsessed with horror movies! Actually horror anything and this list is great the only one I haven’t seen is teeth. I’m so happy that you mentioned tucker and dale though, it’s such an underrated movie. Overall, this was a great post. Keep it up! 💕

    • Haha, when my husband asks me what I want to watch, he quickly retracts his question and says, “Never mind. Don’t even know why I bothered asking.” I would love to see a Tucker and Dale 2, but I’ve yet to see a sequel that does the original justice. Well, maybe The Descent 2. Thank you for your feedback!

  2. I love horror films too, but I am the one who will watch it then can’t sleep for hours at a time, sometimes a whole 24 hours to reassure I don’t die like the characters! haha.
I have not seen any of the movies you have listed though, so something to look into 🙂
